Plasma cutting works by the heat (thermic) and mechanical action of a gas jet heated by a continuous direct electric arc made by having an electrode in the torch and the item to be worked on. The plasma jet projected against the item penetrates the whole thickness of the material to be cut, melting and expelling the waste material.
